Playbook Not Behavior, 1,000 Workers Fired

Quanta ComputerDue to low sales, termination of employment for any production unit Playbook was already inevitable. Quanta, one of the largest notebook manufacturer in the world, saying that they have to cut staff numbers in Taiwan amounted to under two thousand people, down from 3 people in the first half of 2011. The reason they say is due to low sales of tablet Playbook.

Until now the exact number of tablets sold Playbook is still unknown. Analysts estimate the amount sold only about 700 thousand units in the first half of 2011, a figure that is quite disappointing, considering initially the Research In Motion (RIM) hopes they could sell approximately 4 to 5 million units of tablets in 2011.
